The rumour that FRC would "Light the way to the New Millennium Games" has just been confirmed in FCT’s "Burning Issues", Volume 3, Edition 1.

FCT, a global company based in Australia, the UK and the USA, is strongly related to the IFRF.  They are for example, a member of BFRC-British Flame.

According to Burning Issues, the contract to design the fuel, storage, delivery and combustion system for the Sydney 2000 Relay Torch Flame has been awarded to Fuel and Combustion Technology Ltd in South Australia.

The company is working in partnership with the University of Adelaide on this project.

In 1990, FCT formed an association with The University of Adelaide to research, develop and commercialise outcomes in combustion technology. The partners have jointly developed the patented Gyro-Therm burner, a natural gas burner that significantly increases radiant heat while reducing NOx emissions. Commercialised through FCT, this new technology is being used successfully by industries using natural gas fuel.

According to David Retailack, FCT's engineering manager, "FCT is proud to have been able to commercialise the Gyro-Therm burner developed with The University of Adelaide. The Gyro-Therm features in the Olympic Torch Relay portable cauldron. No other project has been as visible to the world at large as this one will be."
