I was in the MOD and suddenly I am in the public domain why?

In this fourth article of the series we will deal with problem of windows which mysteriously change contents. The question is typically posed as: "I was in the MOD and suddenly I am in the public domain – why?" This is a similar problem to that which we were discussing two weeks ago.

If you wish enter the Members Only Domain by the originally designed route, then you must start initially in any of the public domain pages:

  • You first click on the key on the top of the right hand side menu, which brings you to the "transition page".
  • There you click again on the key to get the authentication dialogue box.
  • When this is successfully completed, you come into the welcome page of the MOD
It is important to note that at this moment your browser opens a new window, which is usually superimposed on top of the first window.

If it is not exactly superimposed – you might have moved it slightly – then you can inadvertently click on the slide bar of the original window and activate it - that is "bring it to the top". Suddenly you are back in the public domain window without realising it! Frustrating? Yes!

If it happens, glance at the bottom tool bar to see how many browser windows are open and select the on you want on top.
